John Zarwan is president of J Zarwan Partners, a consulting firm specializing in market strategy and implementation; product planning and positioning; and market research. From 1990 to 2003 he was principal of State Street Consultants, a sales and marketing consultancy serving manufacturers and distributors in the graphic arts industries, where John was responsible for sales and marketing and directed their research activities and publications.
Dr. Zarwan has held a number of marketing, product management, and finance positions in the graphic arts and computer industries at Agfa (Compugraphic) and NEC Technologies, where he was Director of Business Planning. From 1979 to 1984, he was Vice President of PIMS Associates/ The Strategic Planning Institute, a strategy consulting firm, where he worked with clients as diverse as Celestial Seasonings, Dover Corporation, and Deere and Company.
Dr. Zarwan has spoken at major printing and publishing conferences around the world, including the Seybold Seminars; FOGRA (Munich); VuePoint; Imprinta; PrintMedia Congress (Düsseldorf); and the Information Management Institutes annual conferences on computer-to-plate, and digital printing markets and technologies.
He is a columnist for WhatTheyThink.com, Canadian Printer, American Printer, and is editor of TLMI Quarterly's Index and Trends Report.
Dr. Zarwan has a Ph.D. from Yale University, an A.B. from Stanford University, a Certificate in Business from New York University Stern School of Business Administration, and attended Grinnell College. Before entering business, he was a member of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the College of Charleston, South Carolina, and he currently is a sessional lecturer at the University of Prince Edward Island.
